When addict or alcoholic gets clean and sober they may think that the substance they were abusing was the problem. Addiction has many faces and it is easy to put down the bag or the bottle put what about other addictive behaviors that were a part of life during active addiction? Acting out sexually in an addictive manner can have the same consequences as addiction to substances. Some of the consequences that may occur as a result of acting out sexually could include incarceration, loss of career, loss of long-time relationships, and standing in your local community. This type of behavior can also be life-threatening as a result of risky behavior that may result in someone catching HIV or Hepatitis C.
