Some people might look at this glass of water as being half full and some may think it is half empty. How a person answers this question can be very telling if a person lives life today with a negative or positive perception. There are many different factors that can have an effect on which way a person’s perception swings. The common causes for many addicts and alcoholics having a negative perception usually involve circumstances beyond our control. Some of these situations that may contribute to this may include financial hardships, relationship break up, or lack of employment. Taking positive actions such as asking for help, being of service to others, and doing footwork can go a long way in helping an addict go from looking at a glass empty to looking at one as being half full.
