The cost of substance abuse and addiction treatment rehab programs depend on a number of factors. The geographical location of the program, the type of program, and the duration of the program all contribute to the fees associated with attending rehab. It is imperative to keep in mind that there are a plethora of treatment options available. A substance abuse and addiction treatment program should be a good fit for a participant in terms of meeting his or her needs regarding substance abuse treatment as well as financially affordable. There is no across the board, standard fee in regards to the cost of rehab. Every individual is different and will require different types of support when it comes to recovering from substance abuse and/ or addiction.

Insurance

Not long ago, addiction was considered to be the result of poor choices and lack of judgment. According to extensive research, it is now scientifically known that addiction is in fact considered to be a brain disorder. As part of the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition), there are currently nine different subsections listed within the addiction category. This substantial shift in the understanding of the origin of addiction has forced insurance companies to comply with supporting its participating members in covering a portion of the expenses related to addiction treatment. The specific substance abuse and addiction treatment coverage will vary from insurance provider to insurance provider, as will the precise plan benefits. Insurance coverage related to addiction is typically lumped under the umbrella of mental health.

Since the societal illumination of understanding more about the true nature of addiction, many more support resources have surfaced. This includes an increase in the number of various types of substance abuse and addiction treatment centers, substance abuse and addiction support groups, detox centers, as well as clinics and hospitals better equipped to handle larger numbers of people in need of substance abuse and addiction treatment. There is also an increase of rehab centers that are open to and able to accept insurance as a form of payment for all or a partial sum of their services provided.

Stages Of Recovery and Fees

There are several stages of recovery, but in terms of the costs and fees relating to substance abuse and/ or addiction treatment the various, respective, components will range in price. Depending on an individual’s treatment plan, he or she may require detox, participating in a formal addiction treatment program and aftercare. In some cases, the costs associated with three stages of one’s recovery can be one lump sum (if an individual attends a program equipped to see a person through each stage of recovery). In other cases, the detox stage may be completed in a facility that is not affiliated with the substance abuse and addiction treatment program, which would indicate two separate attendance fees. Furthermore, the aftercare plan may include some form of supplementary therapy, which would be at an additional cost. Although it is easy to get overwhelmed with the all of the potential costs in relation to rehab, many rehab locations will work with their clients to make sure attendance is feasible, (i.e. offer a sliding pay scale).
